Diplo & Laidback Luke

2176661457_38babdb51c

SO. I’ve found (personally) that things have been a little slow in the blogoverse lately. Or is it just my imagination? I’m not sure. Anyway, rejoice! The newest Diplo & Laidback Luke collab has been making a splash, and rightly so, because it’s pretty freakin’ sweet. A nice mix of house music and dance hall sounds. Plus two remixes! Switch & L-Vis on one hand, with Bombaman on the other. It’s great stuff.

Chuckie – Let The Bass Kick

slavetotherhythm

I played this in a set a couple of days ago, thinking it would be a hilariously ironic song to play as it is now _ months old. It actually went off and people went nuts. Anyway, that made me laugh and I figured I had to put this up.

Chuckie – Let The Bass Kick

… okay, even though I think this one is a joke, Chuckie has alot of stuff which I actually like, too.

Renaissance Man

renaissanceman

Renaissance Man are two awesome guys who make awesome house music, or as they describe it on their MySpace, “house music with boundaries.” That sounds pretty self-explanitory, right? Good, it’ll save me from typing a whole essay of track descriptions. These are all amazing, get on ‘em now.

The Bloody Beetroots live @ POW w/ Acid Jacks & Ajax

l_55157dbddd544554a034e3e6d64e5d21

I am seeing The Bloody Beetroots tonight, live at Prince Of Wales. It will be a fun night! Support from Acid Jacks and Ajax, also, so it is a pretty decent bill. Don’t think snarky thoughts about them because whatever else they may be they still make hell-good music and that is all that matters. Hysterical amounts of awful hipster fandom is a side-effect of being good and there is not much that can be done about that. ANWYAY THAT WAS A DIGRESSION. OKAY THEN.

Here are my five favourite BBS tracks, if you are going tonight this will possibly get you in the mood!

Shitdisco – 72 Virgins (The Bloody Beetroots Remix)

The Bloody Beetroots – I Love The Bloody Beetroots

The Bloody Beetroots – We Are From Venice (La Serenissima)

Crookers – Il Brutto (The Bloody Beetroots Il Bruttissimo Remix)

The Aston Shuffle feat. Tommie Sunshine – Stomp Yo Shoes (The Bloody Beetroots Vocal Remix)

Naysayer & Gilsun

l_9488b4d82d0d4be0a8b6097f76714a1d

Attention mashup fans! Do you like dance music? Indie? Pop? Rock? You can get it all right here!

Naysayer & Gilsun are two Melbourne lads who have released a charming mixtape and have shot to popularity in the shortest time you can imagine. They’ve essentially been picked up as some the newest Streetparty regulars, the Melbourne indie/dance scene’s answer to gigantic, faceless media conglomerates (in a good way, I mean!), and they’re perfect for it, playing the right balance of well-known pop songs and the less-obscure, easily accessible nu-disco and club hits to satisfy everyone.

The mixtape is a motley collection of tracks, samples and acapellas, each containing anywhere from around 3 to 10 different tracks in each song. The artists you hear will range from Deadmau5 to Crookers to MSTRKRFT and then suddenly switch around to Blink 182, Weezer, Journey and even a High School fuckin’ Musical track. Dear lord. Basically what this means is that you will hear a great big bunch of classic songs you’re sure to know and enjoy, all conveniently pieced togther to make for some great listening. Download this mix now and check out what these guys can do, because you’re sure to hear more of them in the future.

Check ‘em out here on myspace, of course.

Boysnoize Records Night… again!

bnreflyer

Sorry, I couldn’t find a Melbourne flyer, for some reason. Here is the Sydney flyer for now, anyway. Moving past that, I’ll get to the main point: AMAZINGNESS OF AWESOMENESS (okay that sounds lame but I felt it would be stealing if I used the phrase ‘Audacity of Huge’ to describe it… hah). If you missed the first Boys Noize Records Night (D.I.M. & Fred Falke), you’ll be kicking yourself if you let this one slip by you too! This time around we’ve got Shadow Dancer, Djedjotronic and Strip Steve, with support from Melbourne’s biggest and best, so it’s sure to be an amazing night! Get your tickets AS SOON AS YOU CAN, you do not want to miss this, I assure you.

To get you in the mood, here is a brand new mix from Djedjotronic. Fifty solid minutes of techno, electro, fidget and all the rest. You know how these things go, get on it now!

Felix Da Housecat

felix_da_housecat

Felix Da Housecat is set to release a new album. Great news, right? Right. The new album, titled ‘He Was King’ is a bit of a change from what we’ve already heard,  it seems to be going in a bit more of an experimental electro-pop direction, which is definitely interesting. Take a listen, it’s pretty cool.
