So I don’t care at all that I’m slow about bringing this news to anyone, “this news” being that The Faint are back again with another album, and the timing is nothing short of great. After four long years of waiting since Wet From Birth was released, they’ve bought Fasciinatiion on to the table, and from the get go, you can tell that they are leaving behind the 3rd generation post-goth sound that is enamoured with Wet From Birth. Perhaps this change is due to their leaving Saddle Creek for their own label (blank.wav)? Well, whatever, change isn’t always bad, right?Tracks like “Get Seduced” and “Forever Growing Centipedes” show the bands return to their original dance-punk sound with distorded basslines and synth pops and squeaks, while “The Geeks Were Right” moves away from (at least some) of the bands usual pop-bias to make a delightfully good choice for a first single.Remember, these guys are playing at Prince Of Wales on September 26th. Get yo’ hands on some tickets, it’ll be a hell of a show.
